When Yuka’s dream of a professional dancing career falls through, she accepts reality and decides to take over running her mother’s traditional hotel. A huge dancing show is being organised to boost tourism in Kaga in the Noto region, but time is running out.
Becoming an okami, the manager of a traditional ryokan, is far from easy. Aside from mastering the principles of hospitality, omotenashi, an okami must understand history as well as finance and traditional disciplines. Luckily, there is a school in the city for girls who want to pursue this calling for various reasons. A comedy brimming with dramatic turns shows the strength of school time friendships and the ability to teamwork and improvise in unexpected situations.
The story is inspired by a true story of a group of okami whose tap-dancing shows help boosting tourism in the region. The film has a deeper dimension about it. A portion of the distribution fees were donated to the Ishikawa prefecture which was hit by an earthquake just a month prior to the film’s premiere (1st January 2024).
